YOU KNOW YOU'RE LEAVING SOON WHEN..
..You start taking your shower curtains down
..you start thinking about having jumble sales to get rid of the stuff you can't/won't take with you..
..you start counting down the days of your departure using your fingers
..you start wondering where you last saw your passport
Oh my God, how time flies, excluding today I have 10 days left in America. and I know that it's going to be 10 buzy buzy days.
While I was preparing lunch yesterday, Kristin came home and we started talking. She told me that she wanted to start putting up her toiletry stuff in the toilet so that she wouldn't have to do it later when she comes back for the spring semester next year. I caught the jist that she's implying whether I want to give her my shower curtains, guest towels and and rugs, but I guess I was wrong cause she had already made the assumption that I would like to take them with me cause she bought her own set already. So after I took my shower this morning I started unhooking the shower rings and pulled the shower curtains down.
as I walked into the closet to decide on today's clothing I was reminded of the fact that I had planned with one of the girls to take unwanted stuff to the secondhand store in Dinkytown to sell. I had also told some of the freshmen girls that I'd be giving them some of my sweaters and coats. An idea struck me and I quickly got on the computer and started composing an email to the UV/Stadium Village residents and then to the graduating seniors.
Assalamualaikum,
I had just thought of an idea, and I want to know if a lot of you may be interested or not.
Since I am leaving soon, I have a lot of stuff to give/sell, and I also know that for some others who are not leaving, you may also have stuff that you just don't want to keep but might still be of use to someone else. So, why don't we organize a jumble sale down in the UV classroom, say next Friday or something. I could also invite the other graduating seniors if they want to sell their stuff too to make this event more appealing.
The concept is whoever wants to sell something will have a table to put all their stuff in and then buyers (among persisma members) could come and bargain or buy whatever they see for cheap2 price. And if you cannot bring your stuff cause it's big and heavy.. you could also take a picture of it and put it on your table and promote it in whatever way you want. Some examples of items that you could sell includes gently worn clothes (including shoes, but no under garments please), books (story books and textbooks), accesories, kitchen appliances, CDs/DVDs/cassettes, computer stuff, a car, plants, fish(alive or dead) and just about anything. You can sell your stuff for as little as 5 sen to as high as a couple hundred dollars, as long as the item is cheaper than its retail value.
I shall book the UV classroom if most of you would reply to make this happen.. Any suggestions are always welcome. For now I am just introducing my new idea to those living in the UV/Stadium Village area (and maybe one or two others) so that it would be easier to bring our stuff down to the UV classroom, and the graduating seniors who might be interested in selling their stuff. But, we could even make this a persisma event, what do you think munir?

Anyone interested in joining in, please contact me. I would very much like to organize this jumble sale.
Wish I could take everything with me :(
